Elephants at Chang Mai

Escaping the city of Chang Mai to visit the elephant sanctuary took us to some amazing countryside. It was a brilliant experience to take a ride on the elephant through the river and on a trek through the woodland. It’s a good way to travel and most certainly a relaxing way to experience the Thai landscape.

Moving around on water has been so rewarding throughout the tour and today was no exception as we journey downstream sedately on the bamboo rafts. Again, I must admit its an experience that is made so much more pleasant with the hot, sunny climate.

A wealth of colour and aroma was in abundance at the butterfly and orchid farm on the way back to the city. I’ve never really been completely inspired by flora and fauna but navigating the small bridges and walkways certainly provided some stunning viewpoints.
