Day 1: A day of colour

An excellent first day here in Thailand, the bright sunshine makes such a difference to the facades of the Grand Palace. I tried to photograph the amazing colours of all the tiles and mirrors to give you a feel of the incredible surfaces. It’s actually quite difficult to see some of the intricate structural qualities because there is just so much colour everywhere.
The immense gold roof structures are what I think are the most stunning features.

Can’t say that I’m complaining about the 90 degree heat as well, takes a bit of adjusting to, but sure beats the chill of the UK.
We had a journey along in the river in the afternoon to see the old style Bangkok houses. It was really clear to see the devastation caused by the floods and how high the water reached, the colour changes are quite dramatic.
