A fantastic days drawing today, the light has been excellent and the temperature quite warm, if your were sitting in the sunshine that is.  This morning was a little disjointed because of the impromptu vaparetto strike. Basically, the water bus wasn’t available so we had to walk to the Academia gallery. The students were not very impressed but then again, they managed to walk off the croissants they had for breakfast.
Everybody attempted a study from the Academia bridge in homage to Turner’s view of the Grand canal.

This afternoon we set the challenge of drawing the narrow, confined canals near to the Ca’ Pesaro museum. Being off the beaten track was helpful as it kept all the inquisitive tourists at bay. Everyone had a really good go at the task and came out with some great images. Having the time and space to cope with the challenges of perspective makes a big difference to the end result.

It’s time for a cold Peroni or two to wind down a bit. It’s most certainly needed after showing everyone how to measure distances and calculate angles all afternoon. Cheers.
