The right hand section of the Venetian drawing triptych; in this image the strong diagonal movement created by the foreground balustrade leads your eye towards the central panel. There is a lot of dominant, gestural tone used in this large scale image with the intention of showing the strong three dimensional presence of the bridge balustrade and the dark shadows on the buildings behind.
The priority in these images is to generate a powerful mood and atmosphere, and allow the viewer to become immersed in the tactile qualities of the confined spaces so abundant in Venice.
